Installing AgoraPro

Installation and Upgrading

Unlike bridged forum solutions, AgoraPro installs like any native Joomla extension via the Joomla installer. Upgrading an existing Agora 3** Forum is a simple one click process which can be done after successfully installing AgoraPro.

As with any time when making changes to your Site, please make sure that you make a Back Up of your Site before proceeding.

Steps to install AgoraPro

1. Download the latest version of AgoraPro and save the files to a convenient location on your computer.
2. Unzip the downloaded package and copy the included files to a convenient location on your computer.
3. Log into the Joomla! Administrative backend and select Extensions -> Install/Uninstall from the main menu.
4. Click the Browse button next to the Package File input area.

IMPORTANT!

If you are installing AgoraPro Version 4.1 for the first time, you MUST install and activate the plg_jvitalslegacy-1.xx.zip FIRST. This can be found in the downloaded AgoraPro package. Install it via the Joomla Installer, and then go to the Joomla Plug In Manager. Find the plg_jvitalslegacy Plug In and activate it. Then continue following the instructions for installing AgoraPro

5. In the Popup window, browse your computer and go to the location where you saved the AgoraPro Installation Package from Step 2, locate the file " com_agorapro-4.xx" and confirm your selection by clicking on the Open button.

Please note that this is the only file that needs to be installed for the AgoraPro forum. All other files are extra and only need to be installed if they wish to be used. The Modules can be installed like any other jooml! module. For the Integraton AddOns, please see the instructions for the individual Addons and read the "Readme" files before installing

6. Click Upload File and Install to start the installation. This may take a few minutes depending on your internet connection and server settings. When completed you will see a list of all actions that were completed during Installation. This will include all Add-Ons and Plug-Ins that were installed. What exactly will be installed is dependent on which Package you have downloaded. Underneath this list you should then see Installing Component was Successful.
7. Create and Publish a Menu Item for your newly installed AgoraPro Forum. Your AgoraPro Forum is now ready for use. When you visit your Forum, you will see that there are Categories and Forums already set for you to test the Forum Features.

Upgrading an existing AgoraPro Forum to the actual Version

1. Back Up your Site! Once again, make a Back Up of your Site before proceeding, paying attention to the Image Folders for Agora. These folders contain the User’s Avatars, Attachments that Users have uploaded to your Forum, and Smilies.
2. Install as described above. There is no need to un-install the previous Version. The Installer will replace the required Files and update your Database, if necessary.

Upgrading Agora 3.** to AgoraPro

1. Once again, Back Up your Site! Make sure that your Joomla! Installation is up-to-date. If it is not, it is strongly recommended to Update Joomla! before proceeding.
2. Install the latest Version of Agora 3.**. The installer will run with older versions, but it was made for Agora 3.0.155 and up, so to be sure that all data is migrated successfully an actual Version is strongly recommended.
3. Install AgoraPro as described above.
4. Follow the Instructions for Migrating Agora 3.** to AgoraPro.

Note: The Database Tables used for Agora 3.** and AgoraPro are completely different, which means that you can run both Agora 3.** and AgoraPro on one Site. This provides you with the opportunity to test AgoraPro on your Site before making it publicly available to your Users.
